The Vernonia School District held a great event on Wednesday, March 1, 2023. Approximately 350 people attended the Family Re-Engagement Night and were treated to lasagna dinner, a Dessert Dash, and hundreds of door prizes. The event was funded through a grant secured by staff member Jamie Hamsa, and brought the community together to hear from Superintendent Jim Helmen about the importance of regular attendance at school, the impact absenteeism has on grades and graduation rates, and encouraged families and students to be involved in the education process. Attendees also learned about a new “Check and Connect” program which provides an ongoing mentor intervention program to support student engagement with learning. The event generated lots of excitement and enthusiasm for Logger Nation!
