Bud Hemeon died peacefully at home with his family around him, on February 26th 2015 in Mist, Oregon at the age of 96.
Bud is survived by his wife, Jeri; his sons Steve and Larry Hemeon; and his daughter Vicki Weller and husband John; his grandchildren Josh Hemeon and wife Julie, Veronica Skerjanec and husband Chance, Alex Funderburg and husband Shawn, Stephanie Hemeon, Tyler Hemeon, Leslie Woodward and husband Nathan, Ashley Clark and husband Danny, Casey Fields and husband Travis, Katie Hawley and fiancé Jon Mulleda. Also surviving are his great-grandchildren; Hayden, Jakey, Emory, Isabella, Sam, Lilly, Lola, Jonathan and Harper.
Bud was born January 1, 1919 in Somerville Massachusetts, to Forrest C. and Rhoda Hemeon. Bud had to quit school in the 11th grade due to his father’s illness. He then helped with the running of Hemeon Trucking with his sister, Rhoda. At the age of 19, he moved to Hollywood, California where he began work as a Western Union Boy delivering telegrams. During this time, Bud enjoyed collecting hundreds of autographs from the stars of that era.
Bud was 20 years old when he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He was a Boatman’s Mate, on the U.S.S. Los Angeles, a heavy cruiser. During WW2 he traveled to North Africa & Europe. He was honorably discharged in September of 1945. Read More
