A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at the Fuiten, Rose & Hoyt Funeral Home, 2308 Pacific Avenue in Forest Grove, with Pastor Wayne Marr, of the Vernonia Assembly of God Church, officiating. Concluding Rites and Interment with Full Military Honors will follow at 2:00 P.M. at the Willamette National Cemetery, 11800 S.E. Mt. Scott Blvd. in Portland.
Family and friends are invited to attend a reception immediately following the chapel service, to be held in the fellowship room of the funeral home.
CHARLES CLAYTON “CHUCK” HENDRICKS was born August 9, 1929 in Anderson, Missouri, the son of the late Charlie Raymond Hendricks and Laura V. (Holloway) Hendricks. He was raised and received his education in the Anderson, Missouri community.
He was a Veteran of World War II and the Korean conflict having joined the United States Navy on August 14, 1946 in Joplin, Missouri. Chuck served for four years until receiving his discharge on May 10, 1950. He re-enlisted on November 13, 1950 and served another two years, until receiving his discharge on March 12, 1952 at the rank of Aviation Structural Mechanic Third Class. He had received the China Service Award, American Theatre Award and the World War II Victory Medal.
Chuck was united in marriage to Peggy Juanita Brooks on August 16, 1950 in Bentonville, Arkansas. Following their marriage they made their homes in the communities of Anderson, Missouri; San Diego, California; Anaheim, California and Marion, Iowa, They then returned to Orange, California where they lived until 1960 when they moved to Tualatin, Oregon. They later lived in Tigard for two years, Vernonia for six years and Cornelius for nine years, until 2005 when they moved to the Forest Grove community, where Chuck had resided since.
He had worked as a truck driver for Pacific Motor Trucking Company in California and Oregon for many years, until 1984 when he retired. Read More
