A Celebration of Life will be held on March 14, 2015 from noon-4pm at the Vernonia Scout Cabin, 901 Park Drive in Vernonia, with Pastor Grant Williams, presiding.
Kenneth George Pitts, Sr. was born on December 19, 1943 in Portland Oregon, the son of the late Arnold Wayne Pitts and the late Bella (McDonald) Safranski. He was raised and received his education in Portland, Oregon, having been a graduate of Cleveland High School class of 1962.
He was united in marriage to Sharon Kathleen McCreadie, on May 26, 1984 in Portland Oregon. They celebrated their 30th Wedding Anniversary this past May. Following their marriage they made their home in West Linn until moving to Vernonia in 1987.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold Pitts and Bella (McDonald) Safranski; his sisters, Laura McDonald and Margaret Kemp.
He was a member of the Vernonia Lions Club.
Among his special interests he enjoyed bowling, roller skating, hunting, and riding his Harley. Especially fly fishing, his favorite fishing spot was the Deschutes River over in eastern Oregon.
Kenneth worked as a paintmaker for Rodda Paint for over twenty eight years.
Survivors include his wife Sharon Kathleen Pitts, of Vernonia, Oregon; his four children and their spouses, Kimberly and Ben Harding of Portland, Oregon, Kenneth Jr. of Portland, Oregon, Kevin and Kera Pitts of Astoria, Oregon, Katie and JC of Fairview, Oregon; his sister and brother–in-law, Edith and Dick Cato, of Portland, Oregon and his brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Ellen Pitts, of Brightwood, Oregon.
Also surviving are his eleven grandchildren, Shayla, Dillon, Eric, Hannah, Nikolaus, Christian, Kylee, McKenzie, Austin, Nathan, and Corey, three great-grandchildren; and his nieces and nephews, Cynthia, Greg, Elizabeth, Brian, Kristina, Jennifer, and Jason.
