Lady Loggers Wins District Title, Boys Lose; Both Advance to State Tourney

The Vernonia Lady Loggers defeated Fatih Bible 44-35 on Saturday, February 21 to win the Northwest District Title and secure a first round home game in the State Tournament.  The Lady Loggers will play at home on Saturday, February 28 at 2:00 PM in the first round of the state playoffs, with a trip to Pendleton and the final eight on the line.  The Lady Loggers will  host Weston-McEwen.VHSLadyLoggers2015DistrictChamps
Following the game against Faith Bible, Northwest League Awards were announced. Meghan Sullivan was named First Team All League and was also named Player of the Year.  Julia Fletcher was also named First Team All League.  Marketa Veselkova was named Second Team All League and Lisa Paje was named Honorable Mention.

The Vernonia Logger boys lost to Knappa 80-68 in the District Championship.  The Loggers will play away in the first round of the State playoffs on Friday, February 27 at 7:00 PM at Irrigon.

Following the district final Northwest League Awards were announced.  Freshman Clay Sullivan was named First Team All League, sophomore Brett Elliot was named Second Team and sophomore Tristan Adams was named Honorable Mention.
