A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, December 14, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at the Vernonia High School Commons, 1000 Missouri Avenue, with Pastor John Cahill, of the Pioneer Baptist Fellowship, officiating. Private Family Interment will follow at the Clear Creek Cemetery in Vernonia.
The family is requesting those attending to dress casually and to wear their favorite hickory shirt and/or barn boots.
Family and friends are invited to attend a reception immediately following the ceremony, to be held in the commons.
TERRY MICHAEL SCHAUMBURG was born on October 20, 1955 in Los Angeles, California, the son of the late Donald Ray and Georgene Inga (Aasland) Schaumburg. As a young child he moved with his family to the Vernonia community, where he was raised and received his education, having been a graduate with the Vernonia High School Class of 1973.
He was united in marriage to Brenda K. Eckland on November 22, 2014 in Vernonia, Oregon. Following their marriage they made their home the Vernonia community.
Terry was self-employed and worked as the Owner and Operator of Cedarwood Timber & Farm in Vernonia for many years.
He was a member of the Vernonia Lions Club, having currently served as the President and a member of the Pioneer Baptist Fellowship in Vernonia. Terry hosted two annual events on his farm, for the Nehalem River Rendezvous, a black powder association.
Among his special interests, he enjoyed farming, logging, horseback riding and was an avid hunter. He also loved to care for his three dogs, “Sophie Ann”, “Fletcher” and “Jake.”
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Ray and Georgene Inga Schaumburg.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Schaumburg, of the family in Vernonia, Oregon; his three children and their spouses, Dean Schaumburg and his girlfriend, Mandi Cressman, of Vernonia, Oregon; Donald Schaumburg, of Vernonia, Oregon and Kerry and Chris Hulon, of Vernonia, Oregon and his five siblings and a spouse, Carl Schaumburg, of Albany, Oregon; Randy Schaumburg, of Albany, Oregon; Greg and Michele Schaumburg, of Vernonia, Oregon; Debbie Schaumburg, of Halsey, Oregon and Doug Schaumburg, of Beaverton, Oregon.
Also surviving are his four grandchildren, Skylar; Sylas; Chloe and Caleb; his great grand- daughter, Juniper and several nieces and nephews.
The family suggests that remembrances may be contributions to the Lions Club of Vernonia, PO Box 43, Vernonia, OR 97064, in his memory.
