Extra!! Extra!! Read All About It
Phase 1 of the Vernonia Elementary School playground has been installed and is beautiful. Now we are looking for help in raising funds for phase 2. PTA is currently looking for a person willing to co-chair the fundraising position on the board. If you are interested in helping with our efforts, please contact Melissa Zavales or Susan Ely.
Saturday, September 20th at Vernonia Lake from 10:00 AM-1:00 PM we will be holding a Bike-a-thon fundraiser for phase 2 of the playground. This will be a fun and fit activity for all students. Students set realistic lap goals based on age and development. Drinks will be provided and awards will be given for exceptional participation. Pledge sheets need to be turned in the day of the bike-a-thon. If you haven’t received one you can get one from the PTA bulletin board in the school, Sentry Market, and at The Black Iron Grill. So come ready for fun! We look forward to seeing you! Don’t forget your bikes and helmets!
Saturday, September 27th from 5:30-8:30 will be the annual Vernonia Community PTA Carnival and Haunted House. There will be many favorite activities like the cake walk, bounce house, face painting and clowns in addition to new and exciting games, a dunk tank, cotton candy and more! Please join us at the new Vernonia schools commons for this FUN event for the entire family. This is a great way for the whole family to kick off the school year. There are estimation jars filled with goodies and silent auction baskets, each sponsored by your child’s classroom, to bid upon and (hopefully) win! An all new and SPOOKY haunted house promises thrills and chills. Mark your calendar for this fun filled evening. NOTE: Volunteers are needed for this event. Please contact Susan Ely at 429-5709 today.
At the school’s Open House event on October 9th, your community PTA is bringing back the tradition of grilling up hot dogs for you to enjoy between viewing your child’s classroom and meeting the teachers and staff. Stop in and see us for food and you can join our PTA at the same time. We could really use parents and community members who want to make the Vernonia Schools great!
