Lady Loggers Win Record 20th Game, Boys Also Win

VHSGirlsBBCastro2:11:14The Vernonia Lady Loggers won a school record 20th game when they defeated Faith Bible 50-26 on Senior Night, Tuesday February 11th.

With a 14-0 l record in the Northwest League with just two games to play, Vernonia has secured their second league championship in the last two years.  The Lady Loggers are 20-1 on the season.

Prior to the game, Vernonia honored their varsity players: senior Stephanie Castro and exchange students, Katka Brejchova, Emma D’Onghia and Johanna Lange before their final home game before the playoffs.  Also honored were seniors Nikita MCCord and Kenzie Anderson as well as exchange students Jean Lee and Sara-Eve Mayer Villeneuve.

The Logger boys kept their slim playoff hopes alive with a 59-57 win.  Alex Rubiero  hit the game winning shot for the Loggers.

Prior to their game the Loggers honored seniors Ronnie Maldonado, Adonis Hopkins and Brandon Coca as well as exchange students Emil Hardenberg,  Rubiero, Julius Haake, Dominique Woods, Alex Thuet, Anton Yakovenko and Alex Plaschevici.

Both the Boys and Girls travel to face Delphian on Friday February 14th.
