Edna Earle “Edie” Langley Pegg-Obituary

  Obit-EdnaPeggEdna Earle “Edie” Langley Pegg, 91, a former resident of the Vernonia community, late of North Plains, died Thursday morning, March 21, 2013 at Melanie Wright Adult Foster Care Home in North Plains.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, March  26, 2013 at 10:00 AM at the Page Funeral Chapel, 2014 Arrants Street in Selma, California, with the Rev. John J. Cahill, Jr., pastor of the Pioneer Baptist Fellowship Church, officiating. Burial Rites & Interment will be held at Floral Memorial Park Cemetery, 2950 Thompson Avenue in Selma, California.

 EDNA EARLE (JAMES) PEGG was born on May 20, 1921 in Lake City, Arkansas, the daughter of Lawrence Frank and Rebecca Jane (Anthony) James. She was raised and received her education in the Jonesboro, Arkansas community.

She was united in marriage to Guy Langley, Jr. on October 24, 1936. Following their marriage, they made their home in Arkansas, moving to California to the Fresno area in 1939.

Edna was preceded in death by her husband Guy H. Langley, Jr. on July 15, 1970 after 34 years of marriage.

She was united in marriage to Martin Hullender in 1972 in Fresno, California. Following their marriage they made their home in the Fresno community.

Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Martin in 1974 after celebrating two years of marriage.

She was united in marriage to Pastor Harold Pegg in 1982 in Fresno, California.

Edie was preceded in death by her husband, Harold in 1996. They had 15 great years together serving God in the People’s Church in Fresno, California. They loved to travel and they loved to play and sing together.  Harold played the saxophone and had a great singing voice.

Following Harold’s passing, Edie moved to the Vernonia, Oregon in 2002 to reside with her daughter and son-in-law, Lynda and Pastor John Cahill.  She moved to the Melanie Wright Adult Foster Care Home in North Plains, Oregon, where she had been a guest resident for the last three months.

She worked as an Accountant for Forkner Ranch in Fresno, California for 12   years until her retirement.

Among her special interests, Edna enjoyed photography; she loved to travel and went to the Holy Lands; London, England; Paris, France; Hawaii,  several cruises, and she and Harold loved to spend time in Yosemite. She and Harold also travelled to Puerto Rico to visit Randy and Chana. She went to Hawaii twice and Australia twice with John and Lynda. She loved music and played the piano most of her life.  She loved her church and spent many years serving God with her music, playing for church and choir, teaching Sunday School, serving as Vacation Bible School Director, and worked in the office of Ashlan Park Christian School.

She is also preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Rebecca Jane James and her sister, Sue Ripley.

Survivors include her two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Pat Langley, of Coarsgold, California and Guy Langley, III. and his wife,  Patsy, of Fresno, California; her daughter and son-in-law, Lynda and Pastor John Cahill, of Vernonia, Oregon and her two sisters and a brother-in-law, Doris Johnston, of Fresno, California and Frances and Roy Harris, of Fresno, California.

Also surviving are her ten grandchildren and their spouses, Sandy King, of Sacramento, California; Randy and Chana Langley, of Elizabeth City, North Carolina; Jeannie and Bobby Jordan, of Ahwahnee, California; Jacquie Langley, of Coarsgold, California; Mike and Veronica Langley, of Phoenix, Arizona; Cheri and Jim Langley-Davis, of Madera, California; David Bruce Langley, of San Francisco, California; John J. Cahill III, of Portland, Oregon;  Deanna and Reuben Gonzales, of Brisbane, Australia and Anne and Matt Dixon, of Forest Grove, Oregon; seventeen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
