Bertha Louise Oblack (Feist) of Vernonia, Oregon passed away at her home February 1, 2013. Bertha was born August 5th, 1914 in Clatskanie, Oregon to Reed and Annie Holding. She graduated from Clatskanie High School in 1933.
Bertha married Max Oblack on December 21, 1935 at Kelso, Washington. They spent their married life on their farm in the Vernonia area, except for 5 years on a farm at Molalla, Oregon. Bertha and Max had 2 children, 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren. Max passed away November 3, 1986. Bertha was preceded in death by her brother George Holding who passed away in 2009, also, three grandchildren, Larry Oblack Jr., in 2008, Robert Shrum in 2008 and Lynette Rodd in 2010.
Bertha was a member of the Clatskanie American Legion, Louis Larsen Auxiliary Post #68 for many years. She served on an observation post during World War II in Mollala watching for enemy aircraft. Bertha was also a member of the United Methodist Church in Clatskanie, the Natal Grange and Mist Helping Circle.
Bertha married Joseph Feist in 1999. Joseph passed away in 2009.
Bertha is survived by her son and daughter in law, Larry and Claudia Oblack, her daughter and son in law Maxine and John Stark, several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at 11:00am at the Groulx Family Mortuary, 25381 Wonderly Road, Rainier, Oregon with Pastor Carolyn Bowers Officiating of the Rainier Methodist Church.
Interment will follow at Mist Cemetery, Mist, Oregon.
